New Area 2 Representative

We would like to welcome to Douglas Mcguire, who has just taken over as the new Area 2 Rep.

Hi there folks

For anyone who hasn't heard, I've taken over as the new AREA 2 rep and I'd like to start by getting to know you all. But firstly a bit about me:- Many of you may know me from competing a little black stallion called Warralee Mr Montana - i now run my own small training business helping like-minded people achieve their own goals in western riding. I was introduced to western riding by a nieghbour back in Australia and quickly became hooked on not only quarter horses but the whole western idea of horsemanship. I've several memorable achievements both here and Australia the biggest being AQHA-Australia's National Champion Amateur Aged Stallion! I decided to take on this new role to help further the western riding 'cause' in both our small area and the whole of the UK. For more information on me please see my website www.mcguiresperformancehorses.webs.com

As I was not in my 'post' for the Area 2 AGM i missed out on an excellent opportunity to meet and greet you all and discuss any requests for clinics/shows/social events or trail rides that you may want organised. Upon looking at our members list I'm proposing an initial social event on Saturday 14th April at a pub venue in Cheshire:- Rake (The Hungry Horse), Rake Lane, Chester, CH2 4HS. I would of course welcome your input/ideas on alternative venues/dates etc. All members are welcome whether you actively show or not - I need to know what you folks want to get out of your WES Area.

Our chairman David Brindley has kindly organised our first event for 2012 (whilst i settle into my new role) in the form of a clinic with Scherie Dermody on 1st April at Woodville Livery Yard, Raby Road, Thornton Hough, Cheshire, CH63 4JR. There are to be two groups of 4 each running for an hour and a half from 1-4pm at a cost of £30 per rider. Cheques are to be made payable to WES Area 2 and go to Johanna Cotton, 93 Marshlands Road, Neston, Cheshire, CH64 0SZ or contact her at johanna.cotton@btconnect.com

We now have a Area 2 facebook page for those of you who frequently use facebook, i welcome your photos/comments/horses and items for sale/relevant western events and ideas please 'like' the page wes area 2.

I would love to organise at least a couple of clinics and if time and venues are on our side then i shall try to put on a show - so please show your support by volunteering for various roles that need to be undertaken in order to run these events. Let me know what clinicians you want to see here in area 2 and at what venues, likewise where you'd prefer to have a show held?

Thats all from me at the moment but i welcome your feedback and please feel free to forward this email to any members or indeed prospective members that i may have missed in the contacts list.

Many Thanks for your time Doug Mcguire
